About Hapastories.com
Welcome to Hapastories.com, formerly known as Hangook-Meegook Online.
Hapastories is a collection of non-fiction pieces about hapa identity and culture—or what it means to be a multicultural, multiracial Asian-American. The word hapa is a Hawaiian word meaning “half” and is used to identify biracial or multiracial individuals who are half-Asian.
Tammy Conard-Salvo, the author of Hapastories, originally started Hangook-Meegook Online as a forum for expressing her thoughts and ideas about hapa culture. Recently, she enlisted the help of Karl Stolley to redesign the site and transform it into Hapastories.com. Readers will notice that the stories and essays are categorized by theme, although many of these stories can easily fit into multiple themes.
